My husband Mick and I engaged Karen Harvey to help us with the design of both a garden at our property in the Otways and some renovations that we conducted on the house at the same property.
Karen also assisted in the project management of the renovations and lead all the garden plan implementation, handling all aspects from design through to engagement and management of contractors, right through to final project delivery. Karen has always provided great assistance to us with her strong knowledge of gardens and landscaping, calm common sense approach to any problems and her excellent design and artistic ideas.
We would not hesitate to recommend Karen for a role in garden design and project management and we would definitely use her for another project in the future.
NS – Skenes Creek
I first became aware of Karen when wandering past her former office in the main street of Birregurra. It was an interesting looking place with small sculptures and pot plants – very inviting. As it was closed I checked Karen’s contact details for possible future reference.
Some time later I contacted Karen with a view to talking about our quite pleasant but overrun garden at Skenes Creek. We met and chatted about prospects for the garden.
As it turns out we are re-building on site and the garden will be different. In applying for a re-building permit I spoke with Karen again and asked if she could help out with a landscaping plan to accompany our application. This is when I witnessed Karen’s committed and professional approach to her work as a landscape architect.
I wanted lots of natives to attract birds and this request was answered in her splendid plan. I felt confident that this landscape addition would enhance our application as Karen is in tune with the Otways and the benefits of appropriate plantings for the area.
Our application was successful and building is about to begin.
I have visited Karen’s home and admired her wonderful garden, full of interesting ideas and plantings. Her talent is there to see – as is the genuine commitment and vitality to create very special and thoughtful landscapes.
I am looking forward to working with Karen and learning from her expertise and guidance as we create a little bit of paradise in the Otways.

Karen’s knowledge of foliage and colour, shrubs, trees and flowers allowed Karen to somehow incorporate my own ideas into transforming a backyard into a personal area of nature.
Her background in design was readily apparent in the enhancement of an existing area of garden.
Management and follow-up of the process was extraordinarily helpful.
